The Minister of Justice congratulated the staff on their professional day and highlighted the crucial role the Agency plays in preventing recidivism and strengthening public safety. Nika Tskharashvili, Head of the Agency, also addressed attendees, expressing gratitude to the staff for their commitment and wishing them success in their future activities. Nika Tskhvarashvili has been appointed as the Head of the National Agency for Crime Prevention, Execution of Non-Custodial Sentences and Probation under the Ministry of Justice. The Minister of Justice, Paata Salia, along with Deputy Minister Aleksandre Maisuradze, formally introduced the new head to the agency’s staff. Nika Tskhvarashvili has extensive working experience working within the Ministry of Justice. Before being appointed as the Head of the Agency, he held the position of Director General of the Special Penitentiary Service.

A conference on juvenile diversion and restorative justice was held in Istanbul.
Organized by UNICEF and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, the event highlighted the Georgian model of diversion as one of the leading examples in the region. Iason Nachkebia, Head of the Analytical Department of the National Agency for Crime Prevention, Non-custodial Sentences and Probation, presented Georgia’s experience in implementing diversion mechanisms. Participants discussed the development of diversion and restorative justice programs, emphasizing the need for a strong legislative framework, individualized assessments, rehabilitation services, mediation institutions, and effective inter-agency coordination.
