Social Workers in the Probation Field Honored with Certificates of Appreciation To mark the Professional Day of Social Workers, Deputy Minister of Justice Giorgi Dgebuadze awarded certificates of appreciation to social workers of the National Agency for Crime Prevention, Non-Custodial Sentences and Probation. During the event, the importance of social workers’ contributions to crime prevention and the probation system was highlighted, with particular emphasis on their vital role in the juvenile justice process. The Head of the Agency, Nika Tskhvarashvili, also congratulated the employees and expressed gratitude for their dedication and professionalism. World Social Workers Day, celebrated annually since 1983, aims to raise public awareness about the significance of social services and the impact of social workers worldwide.

During the training, participants reviewed the legal framework of mediation and explored effective communication techniques. They also discussed practical challenges faced in mediation practice and emphasized the importance of maintaining high professional standards. The training was led by an invited trainer, Associate Professor Moris Shalikashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Tbilisi State University. The main objective of the training was to enhance the professional competencies of mediators and expand their practical knowledge, thereby contributing to a more effective diversion and mediation process.

The National Agency for Crime Prevention, Non-Custodial Sentences and Probation celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing a cultural and educational event for beneficiaries at "The Thinking Academy." The meeting, titled “Women’s Strength in Challenging Stages of Life,” was led by psychologist Marina Kacharava. During the session, the participants discussed theoretical and practical issues that will help them better understand their own capabilities in the future. At the end of the event, the beneficiaries received symbolic gifts and flowers on behalf of the agency.

As part of the study visit, the delegation was introduced to Georgia’s juvenile referral procedures and comprehensive programs designed for children in conflict with the law, aimed at promoting their rehabilitation, reintegration, and successful resocialization.This cooperation seeks to further strengthen social protection systems and facilitate the exchange of effective reforms and best practices implemented by the Agency at the international level.

The National Agency for Crime Prevention, Non-Custodial Sentences and Probation celebrated World Book Reading Day at the National Library of Georgia with beneficiaries aged 14–21. During the event, participants visited the Book and Press Museum, learned about the history of the library, and received information on how to use the educational platform. World Book Reading Day promotes the importance of reading and literacy. It is celebrated every year in February and brings together up to 31 million participants from more than 100 countries worldwide.

The National Agency for Crime Prevention, Non-Custodial Sentences and Probation has launched a research and implementation project focused on prison and probation systems

The National Agency for Crime Prevention, Non-Custodial Sentences and Probation has launched a research and implementation project focused on prison and probation systems. The project, which will continue until the end of 2028, aims to improve responses to drug addiction among probationers, strengthen early problem identification, and enhance referrals to appropriate treatment services. As part of the project, a working meeting was organized for the employees of the Department of Resocialization and Rehabilitation of Convicts and Former Prisoners, as well as probation officers. The project is being implemented in partnership with Alternative Georgia and Yale University (USA), with financial support from the Institute of Drug Addiction.

The aforementioned cooperation aims to improve the social environment of juveniles and support their resocialization-rehabilitation process.
